January 28, 2009 Public Hearing
The public hearing was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Riitters with all members present. The purpose of the meeting was to review the feasibility report for CSAH 14, CSAH 1, Pacific Avenue and Superior Avenue Improvements.
David Reese of Widseth Smith Nolting, presented the feasibility report to the council and reviewed all three projects. The project on CSAH 14 and CSAH 1 will consist of replacing sewer and water, replace the road surface and move the CSAH 14 and Pacific Ave. intersection approx. 150 ft to the North, which will also result in moving the railroad crossing.
The entire length of Pacific Avenue and Superior Avenue from CR 104 to Hwy 115 will be resurfaced with two areas on each side of the bridge on Superior being reclaimed due to the severity of the surface. All these projects will be subject to assessments. Because there is not new curb and gutter being installed on Pacific Avenue, the property owners along this route will only pay assessments on the resurfacing of the roadway which is $13 per foot, the same is to be said for property owners along Superior Avenue. The total cost to the city for the projects is estimated at $390,000.
