Call to Order: Regular Council Meeting called to order by Wright at 6:00 pm.
Motioned by Maciej and seconded by Venske to accept the minutes of the city council meetings on May 15th, 2025 and April 16th, 2025. Motion carried.
Payment of the Bills as presented was motioned by Chyba and seconded by Venske. Motion carried.
Donation Requests/Donations Accepted
Motioned by Chyba and seconded by Maciej to accept $3200 donation on behalf of the Randall Fire Department from the Randall/Cushing Lions Club. Motion carried.
Motioned by Maciej and seconded by Venske to approve a $750 donation to the Initiative Foundation. Motion carred.
Old Business:
Knife River paved the first lift in Brummer, the second will be completed in 2026, coinciding with the water, sewer and street project. Moffitt to set up a separate accounting fund for the Brummer/Rockridge Street Project.
There will be a public hearing held on June 23rd regarding the closure of Dr. SG Knight. School Board to vote on the closure on June 30th. Frustration was expressed regarding the lack of communication on behalf of the Little Falls School District about their plans for the SG Knight Building. It seems as though the district has been communicating with the City of Little Falls about plans for the Little Falls Middle School, only adding to the frustration.
Survey has been completed for the property by the clinic. Attorney Pete Vogel drafted the final parcel drawing and it has been recorded, so the sale can be finalized.
New Business:
Rate Study: Pantzke has been working with Gail Leverson (Widseth) to finalize funding from the PFA. Mary Jane Schultz from PFA is suggesting a rate study be completed by Rural Water to make sure the City is charging appropriate fees – last rate study was completed in 2017. Gail and Dave Reese (Widseth) will be at the special meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 17th to discuss funding. Meeting to be held at City Hall at 2:30PM.
The trail in the park was paved and patched this week. Neisen Painting looked at the bridge which also needs some attention. Neisen supplied council with a bid of $6200 to refurbish the bridge, which should last close to 15 years with proper maintenance. Motioned by Maciej and seconded by Chyba to approve the bid from Neisen Painting to refurbish the bridge for $6200. Motion carried. Pantzke added that the city could help with some of the sanding/prep work that could cut the cost of the refurbishment.
The city celebration will take place on July 5th. Parade at 5:00 with Stone Road Band playing at 8:00, and fireworks at Dusk. There will be a petting zoo, bingo and trivia taking place as well. Randall-Cushing area Lions will sell beverages, and the Fire Department will be selling brats and burgers. Motioned by Venske and seconded by Maciej to approve a malt beverage license for the Randall-Cushing area Lions Club.
Randall-Cushing area Lions will be starting on a pickleball court, with the hopes that it can also be used as a skating rink in the winter.
Planning and Zoning Permits: None
Delinquent Accounts: Council members reviewed delinquent accounts.
Committee Reports: Staff has continued to work on water meter installs. Coordinating water meter replacements and scheduling has been successful, with 48 installs remaining. City staff to resume installs on June 23rd to coincide with the billing cycle. Pantzke clarified that there are digital readings on every meter that customers can view.
