Special Meeting May 12, 2011

The meeting was called to order at 12:08p.m. with all members present.  The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and decide what the next step will be with the Police Chief, since he has moved 33 miles out of town.

Mayor Riitters gave a brief background of the events that have lead up to this meeting.  He noted that in the past, police chiefs have lived within a few miles from the city, allowing for a reasonable response time to calls within the city. 

A motion was made by Bob Riitters 2^nd by Charley Andres to end Bill Vanden Avond’s employment with the City of Randall as of May 31, 2011.

Discussion:  it was stated that the city manager along with Vanden Avond, should take an inventory of all city police department property prior to May 31^st.  Jerry Adamski mentioned the idea of eliminating the police department entirely.

Voting:  Rick Turner – Yes, Jerry Carter – Yes, Robert Riitters – Yes, Jerry Adamski – No,

 Charley Andres – Yes    Motion carried 4-1

The city manager will coordinate with the police chief to take an inventory of the police department equipment.
