Special Meeting November 4, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. with all members present. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the piece of land at the South end of Pacific Avenue, discuss the budget, personnel/wages, the proposed 2011 tax levy and the building permit for OK Tire & Bait.
Motion by Carter 2nd by Andres to give final approval to OK Tire & Bait for their building permit. Carried
Jerry Peterschick contacted the city attorney and he stated that anyone wanting to purchase the piece of land that currently has no owner at the South end of Pacific Avenue, would have to go way back to find an actual owner or relative of an owner to gain permission to purchase the land. The attorney informed the city that there is no reason to move forward with the process of purchasing the land at this time.
After discussing, at length, the budget, tax levy and wages, it was the consensus of the council to look at reducing the police department budget and perhaps not increasing the tax levy for 2011. The council discussed this at length and decided to eliminate the part-time police officer position and not increase property taxes for 2011.
Motion by Carter 2nd by Andres to eliminate the 2nd police position effective January 1, 2011. Carried
Motion by Turner 2nd by Andres to reduce the proposed levy amount of $135,000.00, back to the original amount of $125,000.00. Carried
Council requested that the Police Chief attend the next regular council meeting to discuss the police department further.
Motion by Carter 2nd by Adamski to adjourn the meeting at 10:21 a.m. Carried
